ERB’s

ERB’s are tests that we have once a year. They say we do it to see our improvement  in the years we passed at school. I think it doesn’t help  in any way, because what you learnt a year before might be easier than what you learnt the next year, or vice versa. This morning as I was coming to school ready for another torturing Monday,, I discovered we had ERB’s. I had totally forgotten, but anyway  there was no way to study for it. When Lyra and I entered the auditorium where we were to take the test with the 9th grades, we were already planning where to sit. Unfortunately for us, a teacher heard our conversation and told us we would be placed by our last name. This was a problem for Lyra’s last name is L and mine is A. So I sat at one side of the room, and she sat on the other.. During that test we not in any way talk.

 

Last year, the test had sounded very difficult and my final grade had been really bad, but this time, the part we were doing, Vocabulary Comprehension , I understood, which was the part I failed last year. This is one of the reason why I think it is absolutely no use to do t ERB’s because it proves nothing. I don’t know how it went for Lyra, but since she is the smartest person I met until today, than I guess it musn’t have been to hard for her.

 

It was also very disturbing to see how the teachers looked at you when you were done before time, or when they passed near your desk trying to find a reason to yell at you. They look down at you with the corners of their eyes, just like if they were trying to fake they weren’t looking at us, but if that was it, than it didn’t work. Sometimes they’d stop at your desk and look at what you’re doing, maybe to be sure you’re not looking at your neighbors, and when you’d look up at them, annoyed because it is hard to concentrate when someone is looking at each movement you do, they’d give you a look, and point at your work, meaning you should go back to your work and ignore them.
